Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher get personal with brutal takedowns in dispute

mirror.co.uk, 13 September 2021, 09:01

Gary Neville has pulled no punches in his latest social media dispute with fellow pundit Jamie Carragher, the pair often letting their bickering over-spill on to twitter.

The tongue-in-cheek debate this time stemmed from Neville's complaints over train firm Avanti West Coast, after he was left dissatisfied with the service he received while en-route to the studios where both he and Carragher will dissect the weekend's action and preview Everton's home clash against Burnley later on this evening.

Neville took to twitter to bemoan the poor quality of service on the train, writing: "Excelling themselves again @AvantiWestCoast. We haven't loaded any cutlery packs this morning. Forget assessing Ronaldo on MNF tonight I'm covering this lot. Absolute shambles of a company. Morning everyone..."

It wasn't long before Carragher couldn't help but aggravate Neville even further, mentioning him in a tweet that displayed a picture of the former Liverpool star holding his cutlery in the first class section of a train from the same company.

Clearly seething - Neville took the argument up a gear with his response to the snap, replying: "You lot sold out to beat tiered lockdowns, won all the pilot events post CV and you're now celebrating a private contract partner of a Tory government.

"You write for the telegraph, drink red wine and stay in a 5 star hotel in Whitehall. Mr James Carragher Ladies and Gentlemen!"

The response prompted a number of shocked replies from fans, who were incredibly entertained and excited about where this battle seemed to be heading - a reply from Carragher imminent.

The ex-Anfield stalwart did not disappoint, replying to Neville's rather personal jibe with one of his own, mentioning everything from Neville's part ownership in League Two outfit Salford City to how he spent his testimonial money.

Was this one dispute between the pair that went too far? Comment below.

Carragher quipped back: "The Roman Abramovich of league 2, who wants an independent regulator to regulate the Glazers but not the class of 92, used his testimonial money to build a hotel for the fans (they still have to pay & Sat was his biggest taking, let's analyse that bit of Ronaldo on MNF!)"

Seemingly desperate to get the last word, Neville could not let that lie and sent one last parting shot to his Sky Sports punditry colleague, writing: "Well thank you! Sounds like a great set of achievements," followed by a thumbs up emoji.
