Freiburg v West Ham LIVE: Hammers in Germany as Europa League campaign continues

David Moyes' side kicked off Group A with a 3-1 win after coming from behind to avoid a shock defeat against Backa Topola.

The Hammers will now be out to make it two from two, however, they have notoriously struggled in Germany.

Their last three trips to the country have ended in defeat with the most recent coming in the semi-final of this competition against Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.

This time West Ham take on Freiburg, who also started their group stage off with three points, beating Olympiacos 3-2.

Freiburg vs West Ham: Team news

Freiburg will be missing Yannik Keitel for this clash after he was taken off after only 20 minutes with a knock at the weekend.

However, apart from Keitel's injury, the Germans have no further worries.

As for West Ham, Edson Alvarez will make his European debut for the club after serving a suspension last time out.

Moyes is expected to make some changes from their win against Sheffield United on Saturday, with Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos coming in to start.

West Ham boss Moyes: "You play games in Europe and, quite often, the Premier League teams are favourites, but you can see that it doesn't always work out that way.

"I'm happy we got off to a good start to the group though.

"We've got difficult games to come against Freiburg and Olympiacos so hopefully this winning start will help us qualify."
