Sarina Wiegman's team were nowhere near their best as they scraped past Haiti with a 1-0 win thanks to Georgia Stanway's retaken penalty.
England had Mary Earps to thank for all three points as she pulled off several important stops after a couple of defensive errors.
And in attack, the Lionesses moved the ball too slowly and looked predictable.
But a retaken penalty was enough for England.
However, they will have to be much better against Denmark, who are top of the group via alphabetical order after a 1-0 win over China.

England Women vs Denmark Women: Team news
Millie Bright struggled through 90 minutes against Haiti despite being out for the last few months with an injury.
Lucy Bronze also played the full 90 but was clearly not fully fit, so Wiegman has a decision to make on both.
The Lionesses also looked a bit toothless in attack, meaning we could see Lauren James, Katie Zelem and Rachel Daly come into the side.
Meanwhile, the Danes are likely to start former Chelsea forward Pernille Harder.
Substitute Amalie Vangsgaard scored an 89th-minute winner against China, so she would hope for a start.

"It's across the other side of the world and, I'm not making excuses, but it's important that each game we build and we've seen that last summer, so we're more than capable of doing that.
"Things came out of the game so it's not like we had a bad performance - it's those final little things that'll make us click. Hopefully we'll bring that in the next game."
