Chelsea win fourth-straight Women's Super League title as Manchester United fall short

Emma Hayes' side went into the final game of the season with a two-point lead on Manchester United, meaning that a win was the only way to guarantee the title.

With Reading sitting bottom of the WSL, an upset always seemed unlikely and that proved to be the case as Guro Reiten and a Sam Kerr brace bagged the win at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

It also meant that the Royals were relegated from the top flight as a result of their defeat.

Man United were facing a tricky test as they faced Liverpool, a match which they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lucia Garcia.

As a result, there was zero margin for error for Chelsea who handled the pressure of the occasion incredibly well.

Meanwhile Arsenal secured third spot despite falling to defeat against Aston Villa.

For Chelsea, the WSL title win continues a true period of dominance in the English game.

The Blues have now won six WSL titles, along with five FA Cups and two League Cups.

They also reached the Champions League final in 2021, where they were beaten by Barcelona.
