Fabio Carvalho has admitted that his Liverpool debut was "not nice" after Liverpool were thumped by Manchester United in a pre-season clash in Bangkok.
The two sides came together in Thailand on Tuesday afternoon with Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp putting their respective players through their paces for the first time ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. United were emphatic winners as they racked up a comprehensive 4-0 victor y.
Jadon Sancho gave them a perfect start, with Fred and Anthony Martial both also getting on the scoresheet before the interval. Young forward Facundo Pellestri then got in on the act to round off a thoroughly satisfying afternoon.
One man who did not totally enjoy the game was young winger Carvalho. The 19-year-old was given his first opportunity to impress in a Liverpool shirt following his summer arrival from Fulham.
Whilst he was delighted to have made his debut for the Reds, he signalled his frustration at what was a disappointing result. "We have a winning mentality that starts in training and we want to win at any cost. Today is bittersweet for me as it's not nice to get beat, especially in the way we did against United," he said to LFC TV.
"We'll make sure we correct our mistakes and put it right in the next game. Next game I'm sure I'll score, that's the mentality you've got to have!"

Carvalho has only been a Liverpool player for a matter of weeks but has already drawn praise from Reds boss Klopp with his versatility having been noticed. The youngster also hailed his new teammates for the way they have welcomed him to Merseyside.
"Everyone has been fantastic to me which I'm so grateful for. It sounds cliché but it feels like one big family," he continued.
Carvalho was not the only debutant for the Reds in the clash with Man Utd in Bangkok. Potential record signing Darwin Nunez also made a second-half appearance for the side despite having picked up a niggle ahead of the game.
In the meantime, Tyrell Malacia was also handed his bow for United having previously completed a switch from Feyenoord earlier this month. The Dutchman was of course delighted at his first outing for the Red Devils and the result.
Speaking to MUTV, he said: "I'm very happy. It feels amazing to be here, to wear this shirt and play with these people. It was difficult because of the weather, it's very hot, but we made it."
Liverpool are now set to travel to Singapore to continue their pre-season schedule against Crystal Palace. Elsewhere, Man Utd fly to Australia for a clash with A-League outfit Melbourne Victory.
