Bochum made it back-to-back wins - and nine points from 12 - when a double from Sebastian Polter led them to a 3-2 triumph at Augsburg last week. They moved six points clear of the relegation places as a result, so last season's Bundesliga 2 champions can now start thinking about pushing into the top half of the table. Head coach Thomas Reis didn't risk Michael Riemann against Augsburg, but if the first-choice goalkeeper does prove his fitness this time then he could dislodge Michael Esser. Simon Zoller and Saulo Decarli remain sidelined, while former Bayern Munich youth player Milos Pantovic - with a new-found eye for the spectacular - is pushing for a first start in almost two months.
Whoever lines up for Bochum will have their hands full. Dortmund striker Haaland has scored twice in as many league games since returning from injury, and helped himself to a second-half brace from the bench in midweek as second-placed Dortmund bounced back from their 3-2 loss to Bundesliga leaders Bayern with a 5-0 drubbing of Besiktas in the UEFA Champions League. Thorgan Hazard is available again, while Julian Brandt is "possibly an option" after suffering a concussion against Bayern, but Donyell Malen is a doubt. Marius Wolf could start on the right wing as a result, with Dan-Axel Zagadou also set to retain his spot in the continued absence of first-choice centre-back Manuel Akanji.
Match stats
In-form striker Polter has scored three of his team-high five goals this season in their last two matches, securing wins over Freiburg and Augsburg.
Danilo Soares has won more duels than anyone else in the league this term (203).
With five wins from their last seven games, only Bayern Munich (18) have won more points than Bochum across that period.
Haaland has scored at least once in each of his last six Bundesliga games; the 21-year-old has never previously managed such a consistent scoring streak.
Marco Reus made his Bundesliga debut in Bochum on 9 August 2009, while on the books of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Hit or miss: Dortmund are yet to draw away from home this season, winning three and drawing three.
