Bayern stand on the brink of lifting a ninth successive Meisterschale, one that could have been secured last weekend if they hadn't slipped to defeat to Mainz. The title could be theirs before kick-off if RB Leipzig are beaten by Borussia Dortmund earlier in the day but victory will guarantee the defence of their championship, regardless of what Leipzig do. Lewandowski now needs just four goals to level Gerd Müller's 40-goal single season record for Bundesliga strikes, while Douglas Costa and Corentin Tolisso are back in training, although the Gladbach game is likely to come too soon for the pair to feature. Expect to see Bayern at full-strength as they look to wrap up the title - something that in recent weeks could mean a start for Jamal Musiala.
Gladbach inflicted one of only four Bayern defeats this season with a 3-2 win in the reverse as they came from 2-0 down in 26 minutes to secure a dramatic victory. It was a Jonas Hofmann brace and Florian Nehaus winner sealed that comeback on Matchday 15. Neither were on target in the 5-0 dismantling of Arminia Bielefeld last time out, as substitute Alassane Plea hit his third goal in four games and Breel Embolo ended a 15-game wait for a goal, while Thuram and Remy Bensebaini also found the net. Plea will now be pushing for a return to the starting XI; as will Hofmann, who didn't feature against Bielefeld. Club captain Lars Stindl is also back in training, giving coach Marco Rose plenty of options in the final third.
Match stats
Lewandowski is averaging a goal every 61 minutes in this season's Bundesliga, but has tallied just five in 17 league meetings with Gladbach. It's his lowest return of all current Bundesliga teams he has faced more than three times, not including Bayern.
Two of Hansi Flick's seven defeats in his 83 competitive matches in charge have come against Gladbach.
Bayern have conceded their highest number of goals after 31 matches (40) in 25 years.
Since the start of 2014/15, no team has taken more points off Bayern than Gladbach (20 in 13 Bundesliga matches).
The Foals' joint-best marksman last term, Thuram has scored seven Bundesliga goals this season, albeit with only one coming away from home.
Indeed, Gladbach have the worst away record of all teams in the current top seven (18 points from 15 games), winning only won of their last eight on the road.
