The Barcelona manager had another night to forget in the Champions League with his side losing their second match of their European campaign this term with a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro.

That leaves his side third in Group C behind Bayern Munich and Inter, with much of their summer transfer spending predicated on success in the competition.
And things could have been so different too, with Xavi arguably justified in his anger on the touchline.

The game was decided by Hakan Calhanoglu's effort at the end of the first half, but that was far from the full story of the match.
What looked like a clear handball in the box by Barca's Eric Garcia in the 22nd minute was first denied after a VAR review, and then things turned in Inter's favour.
Pedri appeared to have equalised in the 67th minute when a rebounded Ousmane Dembele shot fell to him to tap home, but referee Slavko Vincic again used VAR to register a handball from Ansu Fati moments before.
Goalscorer Calhanoglu then avoided a red card for a nasty-looking high challenge on Sergio Busquets, before a Fati header was blocked by Denzel Dumfries' hand.

Neither decision went Barca's way though, with Xavi getting booked for his touchline remonstrations.
And as the Spaniard leaped around in frustration, his opposite number threw a hilarious glance his way that the cameras thankfully picked up.

Speaking post-match about the game, Xavi said: "I am p***** off and outraged by the situation we have had to live.
"There is no other word than outrage. It is an injustice.

"I already said yesterday that the referees must explain themselves. We do not understand anything. The referee would have to speak, who is a very important figure in this sport. It would humanise him much more.
"I must not speak for a decision I have not made. For me the hand is very clear. The referee should give explanations. His decisions have been decisive.
"He was talking about a previous play and I was talking about the last one. That's why I see it as more unfair. We were better at the end but it wasn't enough"
