Memphis Depay's departure to Atletico Madrid has potentially opened up space for the Catalan outfit to bring a forward to Camp Nou before the end of the winter market.
Xavi has said that it would be "all the better" if his side could "reinforce" this month, but the head coach would also be more than happy to continue with the same squad for the rest of the campaign.
"If we can reinforce, all the better, but we depend solely and exclusively on fair play. At the moment, things are difficult," Xavi told reporters during a press conference on Saturday.
"I haven't asked for any reinforcements, I've already said that I'm fine as I am. I'm happy and if not we'll pull from the reserve team and if not we'll pull from the youth team.
"I'm delighted with the squad, I have no complaints and I haven't asked for anything.
"Honestly, I haven't asked for any signings. It's difficult to improve the squad we have. It's not easy to find an important player in winter. If we stay as we are, I'll be very happy."
Xavi also confirmed that Memphis "asked to leave", with the Netherlands international, who only had a deal with Barcelona until the end of the season, joining Atletico on Friday.
"Memphis asked to leave. He had the proposal from Atlético, we spoke and he asked me to leave. He needs to play and feel more important. We have all won because the club has earned money for the work," he added.
There has been speculation surrounding Franck Kessie's future, with Inter Milan and Chelsea both believed to be monitoring the midfielder's situation.
However, a recent report claimed that the Ivory Coast international has no desire to leave this month, and Xavi has called him "an important and dynamic player" following his impressive display against Ceuta in the Copa del Rey, where he scored once and provided two assists in a 5-0 victory.
"Franck is an important and dynamic player, physical, with a goal. He has taken a step forward, it's not easy to adapt to another philosophy," said the 42-year-old.
"It happened to [Eric] Abidal, [Javier] Mascherano, [Yaya] Toure, [Seydou] Keita, I remember several. The game he played in Ceuta is the level he has to give and show."
Barcelona are currently preparing for Sunday night's La Liga contest with Getafe, but they will be without both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres through suspension.
