Tottenham tell Man United hefty up-front price to secure Harry Kane transfer

And they now know what it will take to prise him away from the capital, with The Times stating they will need to fork out a club-record £100m.

But unlike normal transfers where fees can be paid in instalments, Tottenham want the large fee paid in full to deter potential suitors.

The news outlet claims that Spurs do not want to sell Kane to a domestic rival after knocking back a bid from Manchester City in 2021.

And it has been said that United may be put off by Tottenham's demands having had bad memories of dealing with them in the past after signing Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

Meanwhile they walked away from a deal to sign Belgian centre-back Toby Alderweireld in 2018 following tough negotiations with chairman Daniel Levy.

United also have competition in the race to snap up Kane, with it reported how Real Madrid are keeping tabs on his situation.

And Bayern Munich are known to be admirers of the centre-forward as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

But The Times have stated that Kane has Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League goalscoring record in his sights, which has left Spurs quietly confident he will be staying beyond the summer.

Should United fail to secure the services of Kane, they could turn their attentions to Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea are also in the hunt for the Nigerian, where they are claimed to be willing to offer Christian Pulisic in any deal.

Another option for United is Slovenian star Benjamin Sesko, though RB Leipzig have already agreed a £20m deal to sign him from sister club Red Bull Salzburg.

United would then have to persuade the two clubs to agree to end their agreement before paying a higher fee.
