Thursday's League One predictions including Portsmouth vs. Ipswich Town

Barnsley vs. Fleetwood (Thursday, 7.45pm)

Barnsley will look to make it seven league games unbeaten on Thursday, when they welcome Fleetwood Town to Oakwell.

The hosts have climbed to fourth spot in the League One table thanks to their eye-catching run of form, while the visitors sit 16th following a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.

Barnsley find themselves in fine form and will be keen to return to winning ways on Thursday after a slightly disappointing draw last time out.

Given the difference in quality between the squads, and the confidence Duff's men will have, we can only envisage them taking all three points at Oakwell.

Bristol Rovers will be aiming to bounce back from their Boxing Day defeat when they host Exeter City in League One on Thursday evening.

Exeter, meanwhile, drew for the third time in four matches as they squandered an opportunity to move into the top half of the table.

Both teams enjoy playing on the front foot, so it would be a surprise if either team managed a clean sheet at Memorial Stadium on Thursday evening.

Two sides who are currently in the League One relegation zone will go head-to-head on Thursday when Forest Green Rovers play host to Burton Albion.

The home side are sat in 22nd place, with two points separating them from safety, while Burton are just one point behind in 23rd position.

Although Forest Green have won their last three home games, Burton would have taken confidence from their 3-0 win over Lincoln, and after beating their opponents earlier in the season, we think that the Brewers will claim a narrow victory on Thursday.

Morecambe will attempt to end an 11-game winless run in all competitions when they welcome Accrington Stanley to the Mazuma Stadium on Thursday.

The visitors, who sit just outside the League One relegation zone, have proven to be a tough team to beat in recent weeks after avoiding defeat in their last six competitive games.

Dean Holden will go in search of a first victory as Charlton Athletic manager on Thursday, when they travel to take on Oxford United.

The new boss began his reign with a draw against Peterborough United on Boxing Day, extending the Addicks' wait for a return to winning ways in League One, while their hosts are also four matches without a victory in England's third tier.

Both teams are struggling for form in the league, but the introduction of Holden may have a positive effect on the visitors after an opening draw, and we see them being boosted and ending their winless run on Thursday.

Peterborough United will be aiming to end a winless run of five league games when they host Milton Keynes Dons on Thursday evening.

The visitors, meanwhile, could climb out of the relegation places by securing a third successive victory.

The previous two meetings have resulted in a win apiece after Ipswich claimed a 3-2 league victory in October, while Pompey recorded a 2-0 win in the EFL Trophy last month.

Shrewsbury Town will be looking to remain in the top half of the League One table when they host Cheltenham Town on Thursday evening.

Cheltenham, meanwhile, can move one point behind their forthcoming opponents by claiming a victory.

With both sides generally more effective defensively than offensively, we can envisage a stalemate playing out at Montgomery Waters Meadow on Thursday.
