Unfortunately Yarmolenko got his effort all wrong from six yards out as he sent his effort flying over the top of Craig Gordon's crossbar.
The sitter occurred just six minutes into the clash, but according to Scotland Women's captain Rachel Corsie, the chance was one that the ex-Hammer will be keen to forget.
Speaking on talkSPORT 2's commentary, Corsie said: "I can't believe he's missed. The whole goal is gaping and he's got so much quality that he just needs to cushion that into the net.
"It's a huge let-off for Scotland.

"I'm not quite sure why the backline is so far across there but Yarmolenko is wide open and has to score that.
"It's an absolute sitter and it's a warning sign for Scotland."
