Ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup quarter-final against Les Bleus on Saturday night, Pearce was tasked by talkSPORT to name who he would start if the two sides fused together.

Both teams have immense quality all over the pitch, with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe shining so far this tournament for their respective countries.
Some of football's other top talents, however, have not made the cut in a combined XI, with England dominating the selections ahead of the reigning champions.
Meanwhile, the defence might look rather similar to Manchester United fans!

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Pearce devised a squad based off what he has seen at the World Cup so far.
He said: "Pickford would edge out Lloris. My two full-backs would be the England full-backs, Walker and Shaw.
"I would have a central pairing at the heart of the defence of Varane and Maguire. In midfield I would have Rice and Bellingham, with Griezmann playing in advance to them.
"And, Mbappe on the left hand side, Kane down the middle and the last pick has really been tough for me, it would be Saka or Dembele and I'm not sure which."

Despite the tough decision, fellow pundit McCoist seemingly provided a solution to such a conundrum.
"I'm not arguing with any of that by the way. I would probably be a little bit more vocal in starting Dembele than Saka but I mean, that's some team."
England will soon face France at the World Cup for the first time since 1982.

Mbappe, who is on five goals for the tournament so far, was not involved in training for France on Tuesday, but an injury for the 23-year-old has not been confirmed.
On the other hand, Rice was missing for England training on Wednesday through illness, with the highly anticipated clash just three days away.
A win would reward the Three Lions with a semi-final spot for the second consecutive tournament, but they know they will face a tough test against the current holders.
