On Tuesday evening, the Dutchman and his representative Rob Jansen held a meeting with Laporta to discuss his vision for the Catalan club going forward.
Director of football Mateu Alemany was also present at the meeting, which suggests that the club may not necessarily look to sack Koeman but an adjustment to his salary could be made, given their current financial predicament.
According to Marca, discussion lasted less than 30 minutes and it is still unknown whether Koeman will stay or leave the Spanish giants this summer.
Koeman was only appointed as Barca manager in August 2020, and guided the club to a third-place finish in La Liga as well as lifting the Copa del Rey in April.
The 58-year-old has always made clear that he intends to lead the team next season, even though Laporta feels that this is now the end of a cycle for the Catalan club.
