Arsenal star Jesus was 'crying a lot' during recovery from knee injury

The 25-year-old enjoyed a strong start to life at the Gunners, scoring five goals in the Premier League.

However, whilst at the World Cup with Brazil, he sustained a knee injury that would keep him out of action for three months.

Jesus had to undergo surgery as he began a long road to recovery and although it was tough at first, he wanted to maintain a positive attitude ahead of his return.

In a clip from Arsenal's new documentary on the forward, he said: "I was sad, I was crying a lot in the day.

"But as soon as day two came along, I started to laugh and smile because it was in the past.

"I was like 'okay, job done', now it's time to think about the surgery and then thinking about how to come back fit and stronger that I was before.

"I don't want to cry everyday."

Jesus' first appearance back in the Arsenal side came in their 3-0 win away at Fulham earlier in March.

He was brought on for Leandro Trossard in the latter stages of a victory that maintained their spot at the top of the Premier League table.

The forward already has experience of winning the title with his former club Manchester City, having won it four times at the Etihad Stadium.

Jesus will likely play a key role in Mikel Arteta's side for the rest of the campaign as Arsenal sit eight points clear of City.

He could therefore win the fifth Premier League trophy of his career, with the Gunners seeking their first since 2004.
