Mainoo's superb strike claimed a much-needed three points for Erik ten Hag's side in an unbelievable finish in the West Midlands.
Pedro Neto equalised in stoppage time for Wolves to send fans into delirium but it was Man United who came out on top.
Erik ten Hag's side thought they had won it at 3-1 up, however, goals from Max Kilman and Neto turned things around for the hosts.
That was until United's academy product stepped up to win it for his boyhood club and create a memory he will remember forever.

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes has also given his thoughts on the seven-goal thriller at Molineux.
"It was a really difficult game," Fernandes said to TNT Sports. "We knew Wolves were a difficult team.
"We gave them some chances and we should have controlled the game.
"It was hard work and an amazing talent in the end of the game that made us win."
Speaking about Mainoo, he said: "He is a big talent.
"I have seen him play for the under-18s and I said a couple of years ago the name of Kobbie without knowing if he would come and play for the first team."
