The 2022/23 Bundesliga season so far in numbers

bundesliga.com, 16 November 2022, 08:35
Bayern Munich, Jamal Musiala, Jude Bellingham, Youssoufa Moukoko and Christopher Nkunku have contributed to a record-breaking season so far in the Bundesliga. bundesliga.com collates the standout facts and figures after 15 matches of the 2022/23 campaign...

1 - Union Berlin went top of the Bundesliga on Matchday 6 for the first time in their history.

1.4 - Maximilian Arnold scored the unlikeliest of goal of 2022/23 against Mainz on Matchday 13. The Wolfsburg captain's thunderbolt had a goal probability of 1.4 percent.

3 - Serge Gnabry (Matchday 14 vs. Werder Bremen) and Vincenzo Grifo (Matchday 15 vs. Union) have scored the only hat-tricks of the season so far. Grifo scored all three of his goals in the first half and with no one else scoring in between - what the Germans call a Lupenreiner Hattrick - and is the second Freiburg player to achieve the feat in the Bundesliga.

3 - Cologne scored an own goal in every game between Matchdays 6-8. Wattenscheid were the last Bundesliga team to put the ball in their own net in three successive matches (1993/94).

3 - Christian Streich oversaw three straight wins to nil for first time across Matchdays 11-13. Volker Finke is the only other Freiburg coach to have done so (twice in 1994).

4 - Four U20 players have scored for Borussia Dortmund in 2022/23 (Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Moukoko, Bellingham and Gio Reyna). The single-season record is five, set by BVB two years ago.

4 - Xabi Alonso broke the record for the biggest Bundesliga win by a Bayer Leverkusen coach on his debut (4-0 vs. Schalke). The Spaniard usurps Klaus Augenthaler and Dragoslav Stepanovic, who kicked off their tenures with 3-0 victories.

5 - Goalmania in the Bundesliga! Only five of the 135 matches so far in 2022/23 have ended goalless. The last 0-0 draw fell on Matchday 7 (Freiburg vs. Hoffenheim). All 72 games since then have witnessed at least one goal.

5 - Mainz's 5-0 win over Cologne on Matchday 11 was the biggest in their Bundesliga history.

5 - Five outfield players did not miss a minute of the action across the first 15 matchdays: Bellingham (BVB), Matthias Ginter, (Freiburg), Jonjoe Kenny (Hertha Berlin), Willi Orban (RB Leipzig) and Micky van de Ven (Wolfsburg).

12 - Nkunku is this season's 12-goal top scorer. The Leipzig talisman's previous personal best for a Bundesliga Hinrunde (17 matchdays) was seven.

27 - Union's 27 points represents their best ever tally at this stage in a Bundesliga season.

28 - The last 28 penalties Alexander Schwolow - currently of Schalke - has faced have been scored. That's a Bundesliga record.
