Sunday's Major League Soccer predictions including Dallas vs. Minnesota

Montreal vs. Salt Lake (Sunday, 9.00pm)

After seeing their franchise-record unbeaten run snapped in their previous encounter, CF Montreal have a chance to regain first place out East on Sunday when they host Real Salt Lake at Saputo Stadium.

Montreal are currently third in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, following a 2-1 defeat to Nashville SC in midweek, while Claret and Cobalt are winless in five straight domestic affairs away from home.

Despite their defeat in midweek, Montreal still did a lot of things well, and we expect them to return to form at home, where they have been incredibly potent in the final third, the opposite of RSL, who look uncomfortable and passive on the road.

Charlotte FC vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 10.00pm)

For the first time in a Major League Soccer campaign, the Vancouver Whitecaps will visit Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina to face Charlotte FC on Sunday,

The newest franchise in MLS saw their four-game winning streak at home come to an end a week ago, losing 2-0 to CF Montreal, while the Caps ended their homestand on a winning note, scoring an injury-time goal to upset Dallas 2-1 on Wednesday.

These are the two lowest-scoring teams in their respective conferences, with both sides lacking imagination and flair while also struggling to provide quality service to their attacking threats.

Having a whole week off, combined with over 30,000 fans in your corner, should be enough for the Crown to collect another three points at home against a Whitecaps team who have lost all five of their road contests this year by a combined score of 14-3.

NY City vs. Chicago Fire (Sunday, 10.00pm)

New York City FC have a chance to match their longest unbeaten run from the 2021 Major League Soccer regular season as they host the Chicago Fire at Citi Field on Sunday.

The reigning MLS Cup champions have not lost in five consecutive domestic encounters, blanking DC United 2-0 in midweek, while Chicago are winless in eight straight league contests, drawing the New York Red Bulls 3-3 in their previous match.

Even without last season's Golden Boot winner, we expect to see a relatively comfortable victory for the Pigeons on Sunday as they possess as much depth as any team in MLS, while the Fire have had some miserable defensive displays in recent weeks.

Inter Miami vs. NY Red Bulls (Sunday, 11.00pm)

Seeking to pick up their fourth victory in five home games, Inter Miami square off against New York Red Bulls at the DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, head into the game unbeaten on the road this season and will look to keep the juggernaut rolling and move top of the Eastern Conference standings.

We say: Inter Miami 1-2 New York Red Bulls

Both sides head into the game in fine form and we expect a thrilling contest with plenty of goalmouth action. New York Red Bulls have been imperious on the road this season, picking up seven wins and one draw from their eight outings, and we are tipping them to keep this fine run going and come away with all three points on Sunday.

Dallas vs. Minnesota Utd (Monday, 12.00am)

Dallas will be looking to pick up a seventh consecutive home victory and move top of the Western Conference table when they play host to Minnesota United at the Toyota Stadium on Sunday.

The Loons, on the other hand, have failed to taste victory in each of their last four outings since the start of May and will head into the weekend seeking to end this dry spell.

FC Dallas and Minnesota United have had contrasting starts to the new MLS campaign, with the hosts sitting just one point off the top of the standings. We predict Dallas will maintain their superb home form and see off the out-of-sorts visitors.

Earthquakes vs. Kansas (Monday, 12.30am)

Two teams fighting at the bottom of the Major League Soccer Western Conference will collide on Sunday when San Jose Earthquakes welcome Sporting Kansas City to PayPal Park.

The hosts are undefeated in their previous four matches coming into this one, while the Wizards also managed to secure three points in midweek to head into this weekend.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 3-2 Sporting Kansas City

If there is something that can be expected with these two teams going head to head it is goals, with each squad having proven their ability to find the back of the net, while they have also struggled to defend.

Sporting Kansas City come into the game with confidence after winning in midweek, but the hosts have had a stronger run as of late which should give them the edge here.

Austin vs. Orlando City (Monday, 1.00am)

Orlando City will be aiming to stretch their current winning run to three games on Sunday when they make the trip to the Q2 Stadium to face Austin FC.

The hosts currently find themselves top of the Major League Soccer Western Conference, as they are attempting to push further away from Los Angeles FC.

We say: Austin FC 2-1 Orlando City

Both of these teams have had strong starts to the season, showcasing why they are threats to win silverwear at the end of the campaign.

This one should be a closely fought contest because of that, but with Austin having the home advantage they head into the game as the favourites.

Colorado vs. Seattle (Monday, 1.00am)

Colorado Rapids have the chance to strengthen their position in the Major League Soccer Western Conference playoff spots on Sunday when they face Seattle Sounders.

The visitors do head into the game on a two-match winning streak, and currently sit 11th in the table with games in hand on everybody else.

On the road Seattle Sounders have struggled defensively, and that is something that Colorado Rapids will be looking to exploit on Sunday.

The hosts have the chance to progress further up the table, and establish themselves in the playoffs even more, which they are the favourites to do.

LA Galaxy vs. Houston (Monday, 1.00am)

Los Angeles Galaxy could potentially head to the top of the Major League Soccer Western Conference with a victory this Sunday when they host Houston Dynamo.

The visitors will be looking for an instant reaction from their recent defeat against Seattle Sounders as they look to get themselves into a playoff position.

LA Galaxy have started the season strong than their opponents this weekend, and that is the type of confidence that they should be looking to take into this match.

Even after two poor results in their previous games, they should still have too much for Houston Dynamo in this one.

Portland vs. Philadelphia (Monday, 3.00am)

Portland Timbers welcome Philadelphia Union to Providence Park on Monday in round 13 of the 2021-22 Major League Soccer season.

Both teams head into this one on a rough patch with just one combined victory between them from their last seven games apiece.

The onus is more on the home side to take the initiative as they go in search of consecutive victories in front of their fans. However, the visitors are no pushovers, and we are backing them to secure a point in what should be an enthralling contest.
