Mings urges UEFA to take action against Hungary after ugly scenes at Wembley

Tyrone Mings called for UEFA to throw the book at Hungary after an ugly night of alleged racism at Wembley.

Police clashed with Hungary fans in the away end as they tried to arrest a suspect after a racial slur was made towards a steward and they booed the taking of the knee before kick-off.

Hungary have already been hit with stadium bans after being accused of targeting England players for racist abuse in Budapest last month.

England defender Mings said: "I sincerely hope the punishments this time fits the offence. We have made it clear why we want to continue taking the knee and we are determined to carry on doing that."

The ugly crowd scenes came on a hugely disappointing night for England as they were held to a disappointing draw.

Mings added: "This is certainly not disastrous. We can still qualify next month so I'm not sure this changes much."

But England captain Harry Kane was substituted after he drew a blank and the Spurs striker could not save the Three Lions.

But Kane insisted he is not going through a bad spell despite his night of frustration and has yet to score in the Premier League.

Kane told ITV: "I'm in a good place - I know there's been a lot of talk about me but at the end of the day, I've still scored nine goals this season."

England boss Gareth Southgate said: "There's always going to be a story if we substitute any of our big players but we are responsible for the performance and it's wrong to single out any individual.

"Disappointing performance, I think Hungary full credit to them. I thought they caused us tactical problems, we weren't fluid and I don't think we need to play the level I think we play simple as that.

"I think we've got to go away and reflect, we shouldn't just judge things on one game in terms of that sort of experiment. I think right across the board we weren't sharp with our play, gave the ball away, overrunning things I just think we were underneath it. First time in a long time but we'll hold our hands up to that."
