The 19-year-old has been starring on the ITV dating show for more than a month now, and looks set to reach the latter stages of the competition, which is when the contestants' family members are invited into the villa.
However, whilst many were hoping to see Michael visit Gemma and her partner Luca, he revealed he is better off looking after the horses, while his wife, Louise, heads to Mallorca.
Speaking to Sky Sports' At The Races after watching his horse run, the former Liverpool striker said: "My wife will do that duty. I'll represent the horses and she'll represent the daughter."
He added: "I don't know what I'll get from Box To Box. But I know what I'm going to get from my daughter.
"I've fathered her for 19 years so I'm pretty sure what I'm going to get from her."
Owen did get a mention on Wednesday night's show, as Gemma and Luca went on their first date, which promoted the first real mention of the former England international.
"You have got similar humour to my dad to be fair," Gemma told Luca.
To which he replied: "If only I could kick a ball the same as him!"
Luca, a fishmonger from Brighton, has been on his best behaviour during his time on the show, so should be greeted with open arms by Gemma's family.
Michael has been keeping up with his daughter's progress on the show, but struggled to watch when the islanders were tasked with dressing up in seductive outfits and raising the pulses of everyone else.
He responded to the raunchy challenge by posting an emoji of a face covering eyes with hands on Twitter.
