Man Utd ignoring Abramovich's Chelsea lesson amid Solskjaer uncertainty

Manchester United have shown they have decided to ignore the lesson given by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich by failing to sack the struggling Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer has led the Red Devils to just three wins in their last eight games, which has seen them drop down to seventh in the Premier League table.

The lowest point of their season so far came on Sunday, when Liverpool made the trip from Merseyside to visit Old Trafford.

It was a disastrous evening for Solskjaer, who saw his side embarrassed by Jurgen Klopp's side, with Mohamed Salah scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 win for the visitors.

That humiliating result saw the pressure ramp up on the Norwegian, with many fans calling for him to be sacked.

Reports even emerged that former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte had been in contact with the United hierarchy over replacing the under-fire Solskjaer.

But it now appears that United are set to ignore the calls to let the struggling Solskjaer go and instead keep him in charge for at least Saturday's trip to Tottenham.

According to Sky Sports, there is currently no suggestion that the Norwegian is close to being sacked, despite the poor results.

In deciding to keep him in charge, they are also choosing to ignore a lesson that has been frequently delivered by Abramovich at Chelsea.

Abramovich rarely allows a failing manager to keep his job, even when they are a club legend like Solskjaer is at United.

This is shown by the Russian's decision to replace Frank Lampard with Thomas Tuchel in January of this year.

The comparisons between Lampard and Solskjaer are clear, with both having enjoyed a summer spending spree ahead of the season when the pressure on their jobs increased.

Solskjaer brought in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, though none of the moves are yet to truly work out.

Sancho is seemingly not trusted by Solskjaer, with the winger yet to score or notch an assist, while Ronaldo has failed to find the back of the net for four successive Premier League matches.

Lampard also struggled to get the best out of new arrivals Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.

Much like the current United boss, Lampard faced a poor run of form ahead of his departure, winning just one of his last five games.

With the Blues ninth, Abramovich acted by sacking the former England international and bringing in Tuchel.

It was a decision that has worked out remarkably well, with Tuchel leading the Blues to the Champions League title last season.

He has also got Chelsea well placed to challenge for the Premier League this term, with Tuchel's men currently sitting top of the division.

Both Conte and Zinedine Zidane are currently without clubs, as Tuchel was when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

But United are instead choosing to ignore Abramovich's lesson that an elite manager can bring success to a squad that is full of talent.
