Liverpool target Camavinga spurred on by home burning down and hailed by Pogba

After leaving Rennes last summer, the 19-year-old moved to Real Madrid for £33.5million in a deal that would allow him to kick on and establish himself at one of the world's top sides.

Since then the midfielder has found life under Carlo Ancelotti somewhat frustrating given the lack of match action at the Bernabeu.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Camavinga as a club who could offer him more regular opportunities in the starting line-up.

Eduardo Camavinga: Profile

Born in Angola in 2002, Camavinga moved to France at the age of two where he practiced judo before taking up football.

In 2013 the family home was burnt down, destroying all of their possessions in the process, something that the midfielder has credited for his motivation to succeed.

Camavinga joined the Rennes youth set-up at the age of 11, before penning a professional contract in 2018 at the age of 16.

After making his professional debut in April 2019, the midfielder made 88 appearances for Rennes before being sold to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2021.

Since then Camavinga has 21 appearances for Madrid, starting eight games in the process.

Eduardo Camavainga: Position

The 19-year-old prodigy is a central midfielder by trade.

While he's previously been used on the left flank, Camavinga is most accustomed to sitting in a deep-lying role where he can dictate play with his physical style and intelligent range of passing.

While goals and assists aren't his top priority, the France international has also improved his ability to carry the ball as he looks to move the team forward when kickstarting attacking moves.

Eduardo Camavinga: What has been said?

Former Rennes academy director Landry Chauvin told Bleacher Report what makes the youngster so good.

"He has this simplicity that brings the ball to life," Chauvin said. "He touches the ball as much as anyone else, but sparingly. He doesn't need to carry it. He passes the ball, he makes himself available; he passes, he makes himself available."

Ex-Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain star Hatem Ben Arfa told ESPN in 2019 all about his former teammate.

"He was incredible," he purred. "Technically and physically, he is a monster. Everything he does is perfect.

"For me, he is the modern midfielder by definition. There is nothing he can't do. He can defend, tackle, head the ball, create, score, assist. He is powerful but gifted technically with his left foot. He is intelligent, elegant. You would have rarely seen a player like him at his age."

Camavinga's idol, Paul Pogba, also had special praise for the youngster after scoring his first goal for France, saying: "It is a pleasure to see him don the shirt. To score after his first starts, that is honestly wonderful. I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that. His future is in his hands.

"He is very at ease, he is a little dancer. He makes me think a bit about me. He is not a timid person. It is good, because he is confident. He has confidence in his qualities. He is a very good youngster, I like him enormously."

With interest from Liverpool gathering pace, the player's agent, Jonathan Barnett, said last year: "Camavinga can play next year in the Premier League.

"He is that good. Whether he will or not, I don't know.

"His background is tough if you know what he went through as a refugee. But his character is amazingly strong.

"He is not your average 18-year-old. Playing in front of 100,00 people is not going to scare him.

"He's a lovely boy and I think he's going to be a superstar."
