Lewandowski makes fresh Ballon d'Or declaration after setting Barcelona record

Robert Lewandowski believes that he is more likely to win the Ballon d'Or now he is at Barcelona, compared to when he was playing for Bayern Munich.

The 33-year-old made the £30million move to the Catalan giants earlier in the summer as he secured a move to his dream destination following eight successful seasons in Bavaria. Lewandowski, who'd entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena, signed a three-year deal, with the option of an extra campaign in Cataluyna.

It is safe to say Lewandowski has been a revelation during his short time in Barca so far, with the Poland forward scoring 11 goals in eight matches. He has struck in his last five La Liga matches and goes into the international break as the league's top scorer ahead of the likes of Karim Benzema and Iago Aspas.

Having started the season on fire, Lewandowski has not avoided questions about the Ballon d'Or and the possibility of winning it at Barca after missing out two years ago. The Pole has scored over 400 goals in his professional career but has never been handed the top accolade, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominating the trophy over the past 15 or so years.

"I know that Barcelona is the team where the most players have won it. I think the path is shorter from Barça than from Bayern," he told Marca.

Lewandowski's performances so far for Barcelona have been record-breaking, with no player in the club's history scoring more goals in their opening eight matches at the club. His eight La Liga goals at this stage surpass the previous best for the club at this stage, which was the six goals of former Brazilian striker Romario.

Lewandowski has already been recognised by fans with a new chant and said: "I didn't expect the Barça fans to start singing for me at the Camp Nou. It makes me feel like I've been at Barcelona for a long time.

"It's like having new toys in my hands and playing with them. From the first days in Barcelona I felt that I was in the right place at the right time.

"I feel very comfortable, not only because of the club, but also because of the atmosphere. My teammates, the squad... everyone treats me well.

"Everything makes me feel very privileged. Always having the opportunity to be in clubs like this is an added value not only for the coming months and years, but for life."
