Jorge Mendes' incredible list of clients as super-agent signs up Man Utd talent

mirror.co.uk, 25 June 2022, 07:30
Mendes is arguably the most well-known agent in world football and boasts some of the most talented and famous players within the game as his client - but his latest is a United youngster

One of Manchester United's most promising young stars in Shola Shoretire has signed to Jorge Mendes agency and will now be represented by Polaris Sports.

Mendes is one of the most renowned agents in world football - with his most high-profile client coming in the form of Shoretire's Red Devils teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. Shoretire only celebrated his 18th birthday earlier this year but is already a client of the super-agents after confirming the news on his own Instagram page.

His new agency are world-leaders in athlete image rights representation and boast a star-studded list of cliental. Mendes has a lengthy list of contacts amassed from his decade-and-a-half in elite level football.

The fact Shoretire has been signed up by Mendes so soon is a huge testament to his talent and potential. The teenager has been on the books at Old Trafford since he was nine years old and has already made a handful of first-team appearances.

He featured in United's most recent league outing - the final day defeat away at Crystal Palace which put to bed a dreadful campaign for the more senior Red Devils figures. Shoretire is clearly incredibly excited to get to work with Polaris Sports, given he has uploaded multiple snaps of his signing including one shot of him posing with Mendes.

The agency themselves said: "Presenting a new star @sholashoretire. Welcome to the team." Their message was re-posted by the player in question. Shoretire is just the latest talent to join a stacked-line up of world class players registered with Polaris.

Ronaldo is unquestionably Mendes most famous client, but there a whole host of household names. Manchester City midfielder and fellow countryman Bernardo Silva is also a client.

There is a consistent theme when it comes to Portuguese representation, as Liverpool's Diogo Jota is also represented by Polaris. Arsenal's latest addition Fabio Vieira was purchased from FC Porto, with Mendes reportedly a key figure in that deal to bring the 22-year-od playmaker to the Premier League.

City duo Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo are clients of Mendes, as are Wolves pairing Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto - the former of whom is attracting interest from United if certain reports are to be believed. PSG target Vitinha and countrymen Renato Sanches, Andre Silva and Nelson Semedo are also on his books.

Plenty of the finest South American talent currently plying their trade in the Premier League are clients of Mendes. City goalkeeper Ederson and Liverpool midfielder Fabinho see their image rights and contract details sorted by Mendes' company.

Liverpool new-boy and club-record signing Darwin Nunez is also represented by Mendes, his recent switch to Anfield is likely to have pocketed the agent quite the fee. Fellow South Americans Angel Di Maria and James Rodriguez also make the list of cliental.

Mendes has been a central point within some of the biggest deals conducted in football history, from Ronaldo's first move to Old Trafford in 2003 to Jose Mourinho's appointment at Chelsea a year later. He has been crowned Best Agent of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards a stunning 10 times.

His influence is not restricted to just football, Mendes also works closely with Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc, triple jump champion Patricia Mamona and cyclist João Almeida.
