Jesse Lingard could be handed Premier League lifeline on short-term deal

Everton are considering handing Jesse Lingard a Premier League lifeline, talkSPORT understands.

The former Manchester United star has been without a club since he was released by Nottingham Forest in the summer.

Lingard was training with Steven Gerrard's side Al Ettifaq after he left the City Ground but did not complete a move to Saudi Arabia.

With 182 Premier League appearances and 32 England caps, the 31-year-old certainly has plenty of experience to his name.

And a new club appears to be on the horizon as Everton could offer Lingard a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The Toffees were hit with a ten-point deduction earlier in the season for breaching financial rules.

Sean Dyche's side enjoyed a four-game win streak to take them out of the relegation zone after their sanction.

However, defeats have come in their last three Premier League matches and they sit 17th and one point above the drop zone.

Lingard rose through the ranks in the Old Trafford academy and was selected in a senior United squad for the first time in 2011.

Following various loan spells, his competitive debut came in the 2014/15 season and he reached 232 appearances, scoring 35 goals.

He also enjoyed a hugely successful spell on loan at West Ham in 2021 before leaving United permanently a year later.

Lingard signed a one-year deal at Nottingham Forest and featured 20 times for them last season before his release.
