The derby between Internacional and Gremio was called off after some fans attacked the Gremio team bus, with several players and members of the delegation being hurt on their way to the stadium.
According to reports, Gremio's Paraguayan midfielder Mathias Villasanti was taken to hospital in an ambulance, as he suffered a cranial injury, hip injury and concussion, while Colombian player Jaminton Campaz was reportedly injured too.
"Right now, all attention is focused on the situation of the athlete Villasanti, who was hit in the face by a stone, like other members of the delegation who are injured," Gremio stressed on Twitter.
"Faced with the cowardly and absurd aggression suffered by our delegation, we have already informed the Gaucha Football Federation about our decision not to dispute the derby this Saturday."
